This dog speaks Dutch!

DOGS DOGS DOGS IN AMSTERDAM! DOGS DOGS DOGS IN AMSTERDAM!
Rolf

As most of you know, I love dogs.  I adore them.  As I have always said, if Marley was a man, I would marry him.  He just gets me.  We have a love affair like no other.  So, it is only natural to be obsessed with the dogs of Amsterdam.  Big and small, they make me smile.  One of our first days here, I asked Erik "don't you think it's weird that these dogs speak dutch?"  and he laughed and said "you think way too much into it" - but, it's TRUE!  It has to be!  Oh, they are adorable.  Rolf, above, is our favorite.  We met Rolf waiting for the sign to give us permission to walk again across the street.  We were on our way to Dam Square to go to the random carnival that popped up over night.  We rode the Ferris Wheel - it was a great way to see the city.  We will post pictures of our carnival night in another post because this one ... this one is FOR THE DOGS!

We named this one Chimmy.  He seemed so proud of himself!

Scruffbucket. That's what he was so that's what we named him. A fantastic, playful lover.  We met him at Museumplein on our way to the Van Gogh Museum

Sven was a champion.  He followed his owner all around the Museumplein without a leash.  Stayed right by his side, too.

Meet Julian.  I cannot say too much about Julian as I took this picture from across the canal.  I don't know him at all, really.  It's just a powerful zoom.

This is Tess.  She is a stubborn girl.  I tried to get her to smile for me, but she never looked up.  Her owner didn't seem excited by my stalking, either. It was too hard for me to explain this was for a post on my blog in America ... so I just went on.

Dirk, Dirk, Dirk.  Right on time, Dirk.  He followed the crowd like a champ.  I would have preferred a lighter coat on Dirk, but I've got nothing but love for him.

My love for Linda stems from my obsession with the Little Orphan Annie and her dog, Sandy.  I couldn't let Linda go by without a "hallo sweet pup" and a quick snapshot of her smile.  She also reminds me of Baxter from Anchorman a bit - Baxter speaks Spanish!

Martin clearly could not tolerate my shot at being paparazzi.  I never did see his front side....

This minx is Herring.  She could be mine.  We bonded over our love for other redheads, fair skin and gin.

While I cannot see myself ever owning a small dog like this, there is something attractive about that poof.  We named her BouffantPocket.

What a beauty.  I couldn't help myself from hugging on her. Her name is Iris.  Like Van Gogh's painting,  perfection!

To be honest, this dog speaks French.  We met Hugo in Brussels waiting for a Belgian waffle.

While he looks fierce, Bastian was full of nothing but love.  While we waited for our train to Brussels, he entertained us with his jumping! He reminded me of Marley's rebounding days.

Two for one in Dam Square.  Miles and Maci.  Like Martin, they were not impressed by me... whatsoever.

This little guy may very well be Chimmy's cousin.  We even met little Rembrandt the same day we met Chimmy.  This was a short affair - we exchanged glances and .. it was over.

I'll be honest about Will & Kate here.  1) These dogs speak French and 2) I paid them to be my friend..  I don't know who set them up with sunglasses but there was a carefully placed tip bucket right next to their darling shaded faces.

Romy Romy Romy is her name and cuddle is her game.  Loved her entirely.

Of course I could not, would not, post without something for my love, my friend,
Marley Louis Haring.  Otherwise known as Charlie, MarleyBananas, Marlyebone, Marls or Schmoops.  He has blessed our family with love and devotion since June of 2002.... and, he has changed our lives.  Also, Marley speaks English! ... and some pig latin...

Two of my favorite men, Joe & Marley.  When Marley was 6 weeks old my brother bought him for the cost of the bag of food he came with.  Joe brought him home to our skeptical parents but, before we knew it, Marley was Marley Louis Haring.  The sixth Haring. And, we've never been the same!

Cheers,
Kate & Erik
